How Long Does the Licence Take?

The licence programme is designed to be flexible therefore, you can work at your own pace supported by your facilitator. For guidance purposes, each module has a notional length of 15 hours duration however, this is no prescribed length of time. This notional length of 15 hours results in the minimum 120 hours for the 8 modules required for the complete licence.

Do you undertake exams?

No, examinations can often be considered abstract to the day-to-day work of the educator. Therefore, the licence uses portfolios of evidence gained whilst undertaking real classroom duties. Each participant generates and collates their own evidence supported by their facilitator. Their portfolio is submitted towards the licence modules.

Can Teaching Assistants Undertake the Licence?

Yes, the term 'educator' is used in order to include all who are involved in front-end teaching, tutoring or training. This includes classroom and teaching assistants and corporate trainers as well as teachers and lecturers.

Participants must be currently delivering lessons in order to qualify for the licence programme. Participants' evidence requires the collation of lesson plans, teaching activities and evaluation and feedback information.

Who Decides the Syllabus and is it updated as technology advances?

The EPICT UK Steering and Editorial Groups. EPICT partners are in regular discussion with teaching practitioners, educational establishments, standards organisations and governmental agencies. The licence programme evolves to take account of emerging technologies and the wishes of teaching professionals.

Nationally, educational providers are involved in the development of the qualification both formally and informally through the work of the advisory groups.

These groups offer national organisations and practitioners an opportunity to determine the future development of the Licence in order to meet the specific needs of the UK educational environment.
